Monday 15th October 2018

We have had a busy month so far at MTIB, and on Friday we held our Disability Confident Event. The event went really well, and we had lots of brilliant speakers from various organisations such as Access to Work and Case UK, offering both first and second hand experiences of finding work with a disability. A big thanks and well done to those who have signed up the the Disability Confident scheme. If you're interested in signing up, feel free to get in touch with Petra on 01685 370072 who can provide you with further information and advise you on how to become a disability confident employer (it's really very simple!). Check out the link here if you want to learn more.

Monday 1st October 2018

Well, we've just done our final count for our Macmillan Support, and we raised a grand total of £227.34! Thrilled with this result. Our raffle winner was Val Gallagher who works in our Button Room, and she will be given her prize today. A big thanks to our bakers, Sheila, Grace and Sarah for all their work (and delicious productions!)

Starting the week off right!

Wednesday 26th September 2018

Lots going on this week! We have commenced our Macmillan Coffee Mornings, you can see some of today's cakes here!
Our CEO Richard and Manager Petra are attending the Social Business Wales Awards at Cardiff City Hall tonight and we are proud to say that we have made the slate plaques which will be presented to the winners.
Tomorrow, Richard, Petra and Snr E&T Officer Morena will also be attending the Social Business Wales Conference on Thursday in Cardiff and look forward to promoting MTIB and to find out more about other social businesses.
And lastly, on Friday Petra will be attending the Employment & Inclusion Summit at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, hosted by Delsion and Leonard Cheshire Disability.

A busy, busy week ahead (luckily we have plenty of cakes to keep us going!)

Tuesday 25th September 2018

The E&T team have been very busy this week, taking on new participants for WCVA and preparing the latest sessions for ESP- and on top of this, we are hosting a series of Macmillan Coffee Mornings (yes, a series!) over Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, so our resident bakers are hard at work.

Friday 14th September 2018

E&T Officer Sarah just submitted a Good News Story about WCVA LEAP participant Lauren. We love good news stories here at MTIB, they're an excellent way of demonstrating the benefits of joining the programme as both a participant and an employer. You can read all about it here

Yesterday, Employment and Training Officers Judith and Alison took our new Employability Skills group to an employment fair in Cardiff- fingers crossed for some good news back!

In other news, our E&T Manager- Petra, has been busy planning a WCVA Disability Confident Event for next month, promoting the employment of Disabled Adults to local employers. If you or anyone you know would like to get involved, feel free to get in touch!

Friday 7th September 2018

We've had lots going on lately at MTIB. We've started moving some of our Employability Skills participants in to employment and achieved further placements with our LEAP participants. Our Team Leaders attended a market engagement event for the new Challenge Fund in the last month – this fund will finance a new and innovative pilot project to support people with Mental Health or MSK (musculoskeletal) issues to remain in work. The fund set up by The Work and Health Unit and a collaboration between DWP and the Department for Health and Social Care. MTIB is planning to submit a joint bid with another provider, building on our skills and experience of supporting people with health conditions and disabilities – watch this space!!

Wednesday 22nd August 2018

The ReachUp group have had a whale of a time today with Sheila. The group of fourteen participated in various activities such as an exercise challenge (building a vehicle) and threading beads to make jewellery. The group also partook in the weekly raffle, with all monies going towards trips, equipment and various other treats for the group.

Last week The Autism Directory agreed to facilitate paid placement opportunities for our LEAP participants, and this week our first participant has began their placement. Team Leader Morena Davies visited yesterday and was very pleased to hear that all is going swimmingly! Placements such as these are incredibly valuable to us at MTIB, as they offer the opportunity for real experience with the added bonus of an incredibly supportive host. We look forward to working with The Autism Directory more in the future.

Friday 10th August 2018

Today marks the end of our first week conducting our newest programme, Employability Skills. The first week has gone remarkably well, with 100% of participants who attended deciding to sign up. Well done to Advisors Rhiannon, Jude and Claire on the first week of delivery.
