Lauren is a 28 year old lady who joined our WCVA LEAP Active Inclusion Project in May this year, under the support of Employment and Training Officer, Sarah. Our LEAP advisors provide specialist support to help adults with health conditions or disabilities move towards employment. After joining the programme, Lauren attended some training sessions and received advice and guidance on applying for the particular line of work that interested her- working with animals.

Soon after this, Lauren found an opportunity at a Doggy Day Care centre which she was interested in. E&T Officer Sarah agreed to contact the Employer on Lauren's behalf to discuss a potential placement. By June we had supported Lauren to secure a placement as a Puppy Room Attendant.

The support of employers such as Bark Avenue Boutique is vital to MTIB and it's participants, as it allows an opportunity for employers to understand how people with health conditions and disabilities can be a major contributor to business success. Both Lauren and her new employer have been very pleased with the support provided by MTIB, and all involved are confident in this placement turning into long term employment. Well done Lauren!

“I love working at Bark Avenue Boutique. I'm currently working towards my Canine First Aid qualification, it's helping me build my confidence.
