Employment and training For individuals Current projects Journey 2 Employment (J2E) J2E is a peer support project which MTIB is currently delivering in Swansea and Neath. The projects are funded by the Disability Support Directorate of DWP of which MTIB were part of the pilot projects which were delivered 2015-2017 and the current projects run from June 2017 to June 2018. To access this project you will need to speak to your local jobcentre who can refer you. You will also need to be in receipt of ESA or Universal Credit with a disability marker and have had your Work Capability Assessment since April 2017. The project offers a friendly group environment and is delivered in the community. In Swansea we use the Shaw Trust offices on the Kingsway and in Neath the Victoria Gardens Community Centre. The group meets once a week for sessions on confidence, work search, identifying barriers to work and many others as chosen by each group. Our dedicated advisors offer one to one support as well as employer engagement to support participants into work. Sessions run for 12 weeks after which a drop-in job club is offered for ongoing support. New groups start every 6 weeks and consist of no more than 12 participants and this is a great way to make new friends whilst accessing support to return to work or volunteering. Feedback obtained from clients rate the course consistently as “Highly Useful”. They have found the content interesting, relevant, informative and motivating. Sessions found to be most useful include; team building exercises, confidence building, mental health and wellbeing, goal setting, overcoming barriers, CVs, cover letters and interview techniques. Also comments made about the information, advice and support received from course tutors. All commented on increase in confidence and better able to meet with other people. Without the help of the course I feel I would become more isolated and lonely. The course is helping in so many ways, all sessions very informative and helpful. Also boost to my confidence and communication with others in the group. Excellent training and support. Most useful session on mental health and wellbeing. Help to deal with my issues and the stigma surrounding mental health. Fantastic course, really recommend it for others. It has helped me a lot. I feel more confident than ever before. I received good support from tutors and peers. My social skills, confidence and happiness levels improved amazingly. I learned a lot of new skills. I feel more knowledgeable and more confident to apply for work. I have expanded my social skills and met new people and made friends. Love it, best course ever. This course is very helpful and informative and beneficial to me and the marvellous group of people I am on the course with. It has helped me personally so much but I wish the course was longer. The course has been beneficial to all of us and hopefully for other groups in the future. Especially with the help, consideration and kindness that has been given to me when I really needed it by the fantastic team in Swansea. Long may it continue? Thank you so much.
